I've seen some new players ask "How to increase my prowess?" and I've given a few tips that IMO, should help fair bit.

So here are the tips I got for you to increase your prowess if you're a new player:

First of all try to level up to max. When you hit a progression wall in exp, do the next steps:

  • Fix your epitaphs. Here's how:

  • Here's a way you can fix your epitaphs for STR class like guardian and if you're pure free to play:

(If you're INT class like Flutist for example , do same thing but prioritize INT and ECHO epitaphs instead)
      For offense pieces:
2 Slot Offense: High Heaven + Divine
3 Slot Offense: High Heaven + Stellar Galaxy + Divine
4 Slot Offense: High Heaven + Stellar Galaxy + Heaven Dome + Divine
5 Slot Offense: High Heaven + Stellar Galaxy + Heaven Dome + Divine + Clouds
      For Defense Pieces:
2 Slot Defense: Fertile Land + Jade Sky
3 Slot Defense: Fertile Land + Bamboo Field + Jade Sky
4 Slot Defense: Fertile Land + Bamboo Field + Jade Sky + Wood
5 Slot Defense: Fertile Land + Bamboo Field + Jade Sky + Wood + Field
Disassembling blue epitaph is a no brainer and any purple epitaph other than the ones mentioned up there, you disassemble as well for epitaph shards.(For credits sake, my guild JDD are who taught me of Epitaph fix)

  • Fix your cleansing with avatar marks. (For STR classes , you want to go for STR and CRIT. For INT classes, INT & ECHO. Weapons and accessories are the only pieces that can roll CRIT or Echo. Third cleanse slot is for BRK/DFX but if you're not interested in PVP at all, you can go for Crit/STR instead on 3rd slot as well but Idk how less/more effective that is in comparison in regards to obligatory PVP content like DBF and GvG , etc)
Note: you can also go for Crit/Echo dmg+ATK roll in middle cleanse slot on accessories and weapons but first get like 60% crit/echo chance % , the HP+Echo/Crit dmg red on middle slot on armor can be good to have too for DPS classes and healers but for tanks, I believe STA is still king because, it gives more HP and tank have lots of passives for HP

  • Get Warforge from Battletoken/pvp shop.

  • Join a guild (preferably a top one if you want faster progression) and upgrade the first 2 rows of guild skills. The last 2 rows are more expensive and the final row is mostly for pvp stats.

  • Try to add a top player who has most books in homeland. Raise your friendship points with them to 500 and borrow all their books.

  • Do Skystar for better warforge and skystar boxes which give extra artifact material to upgrade your artifact.

  • Do Earthly Flame/Battle of Falling Star (BOFS) for partner gear.

    • Get yourself a good mentor and let them carry you in higher tales and PVE content like Wasteland Assembly (FoB) Hard/Hero , Heavenly Assembly (HP) or even the latest Yunnan Challenge Tale if possible and Realm of Blades (RoB) or try to get in a top guild and let them help you out or high geared friends. The earlier you can do this content, the faster you can progress. Even if you're getting carried there, make sure you know the boss mechanics however. Notice that a mentor can also pass on gears to you and allow you to enter tales higher than your level as long as you're partied together.

    • Check this New Player Guide

Extra notes about the game's classes:

Current STR classes are Guardian, Beggar, Swordsman and Assassin.
Current INT classes are Flutist, Fairy, Enchanter and Strategist.

All of those are DPS classes except for:

    • Flutist and Fairy are healer classes. I've never really invested in one so I'm not sure if they build the same as INT DPS classes but I guess they do. Consult a healer main for more info as you go.
    • Guardian and Beggar are tank classes so you can focus on defensive stats like DEX and STA instead of pure STR and CRIT if you prefer. It depends on what you want to do whether you want to be an extremely tanky tank or be more of an off tank. (which is still very tanky , btw)
    • For defensive stats , STA (stamina) is thought to be the best to invest in at the moment for tanks for general tanking purposes. DEX (dexterity) is still pretty good if you know what you're doing.Note: Flutist, Fairy, Guardian and Beggar all have a DPS spec as well.

Best of luck in your journey , young hero!
