Clad in radiant robes, I twirl and spin, as delicate feathers dance around me; the self transcends the self, a dream entwined within another.


During the Tang Dynasty's golden age, Emperor Xuanzong created the "Melody of Rainbow Plumage," which found expression through Yang Guifei's dances. As the empire fell into chaos, the melody disappeared.
Li Yu, ruler of Southern Tang, discovered a fragment of the score and, with his queen, sought to restore it. However, upon the fall of the Southern Tang, Li Yu burned the score, reducing it to ashes.
In the Southern Song Dynasty, poet Jiang Kui found remnants of the melody and composed "The First Movement of the Rainbow Garment's Central Sequence," showcasing his talent.
A millennium later, inspired by the surviving pieces, a musical society resurrected the "Rainbow Garment" melody, while the "Hanfu Restoration Group" recreated the regal attire of Emperor Ming of Tang and Li Yu's queen. With instruments like the Tang pipa, qin, and drum, the Hu Xuan dance brought this legacy to life.
Through the lens of our time, we glimpse Jiang Kui's vision, which connects us to Li Yu's imagination and, ultimately, Emperor Ming's dreams—offering a rare glimpse into the cultural continuity and immortal heritage of that golden era.
