Xinwang – Bright as Daylight
On the eve of the Lantern Festival, lanterns illuminate the night, turning darkness into day, as fish and dragons dance in a spectacular display of artistry.


Su Yelai was fortunate to have friends: a husband skilled in the dragon dance and a wife talented in crafting vibrant lanterns. Though not famed martial artists, they were known for their jovial and forthright nature, gifting handcrafted lanterns each year to the Weaver's Shop.


During one Lantern Festival, the couple invited the master of the Heavenly Garment to their coastal home. The wife, inspired by fishermen, created fishshaped lanterns of various sizes, while the husband led a dragon dance troupe to choreograph a performance depicting dancing fish. The lanterns, both large and small, moved with the grace of a school of fish, captivating all who saw them.
The master of the Heavenly Garment crafted a garment based on this theme. The movements of the fish lanterns were meticulously incorporated with the guidance of Mr. Huang Hongyu, a custodian of traditional lantern craftsmanship.
